After working as a clothing and accessories designer for global fashion brands such as G-Star, Levi’s Vintage Clothing, and Tommy Hilfiger for many years, I (Wendy Lek) realized my long-lived dream in 2018 and started my brand, G A L E K T I C A. The brand’s name refers to my love for 80s sci-fi movies, the universe, futuristic design and my surname, Lek. 

With Galektica, I offer a collection of sustainable bags, small leather goods, and wall pieces, all handmade by me. I’ve always been inspired by architecture, contemporary art, and quilting, and mix it all together in my designs, which I envision and produce from my home atelier in Broek in Waterland, a little village close to Amsterdam. 

During my career in the fashion industry, I noticed the huge amount of waste and overload of styles produced in factories. That’s why I chose a sustainable and conscious approach for my own brand, only working with ethical partners, using residue materials as much as possible, having a small stock and making everything by hand, with as little use of chemical products as possible. 

My work is driven by a love for craftsmanship and handwork, and everything I create comes directly from the heart.
